Reasonable shopping strategies
Shopping has got to be the favourite female pastime of all time. The search for that perfect top or dress or any other piece of clothing, finding the bargins amongst the crowds and just to buy to elevated the adrenaline and bring forth those positive emotions and mood improvement. But, to stay happy and satisfied after you return home, you need to make sure you shop reasonablly, not to have returned home with bags full of clothes that after a second look you no longer like the way they look on you, or you have nothing to with it, so again the vicious cycle starts again that you complain about ‘how you do not have nothing decent to wear’.
In addition you will find several reasonable and effective shopping strategies that will facilitate shopping and will help you keep that satisfied smile on your face long into the next day.
- The best shopping days are from Monday to Thursday
Why? Because the crowd in the shops is at its lowest during the working week. Well, vendors will be able to devote greater attention to you, and you will not have to wait for your turn to get that all important spot in the Changing Room, and of course you will have enough time to check yourself in the mirror without someone with a grim face forcing you to hurry up as they need there fix!.
As a result, you go about your shopping more relaxed and you will have enough time to make a reasonable choice.
- Go on shopping with a plan and budget planned ahead
You finally picked up some money to honour yourself with shopping? Do not rush to the door and “fly” away to spend those hard earned pennies on the first piece of clothing that will steal your eye. Make your plan and move through the stores with clear intentions and stay focused like a panther ready to spring lol.
First, open your closet and take out in sight everything you own. Second, shoot on your mobile phone pictures of the pieces of clothing that you do not have nothing to combine them with . Third, consider how much money you can spend and on what you need to add the flare to your wardrobe.
For example, if you need boots, do not go into apparel boutiques until you buy the boots, because your unconscious mind will gradually decrease the budget for the boots and eventually you will run out of £££’s for what you need. Focus on what is most important for you in this coming season, then, if you save money, lets go wild and start gaze to for something else to honour yourself with.
The photos in the mobile phone are needed to remind you that you already own pieces that you have nothing to combine them , and you should not increase that pile of clothes. Use the images to buy clothes that will combine and match perfectly with the pieces that stay unwearied in your closet or cupboard.
- Carefully choose your shopping companion
It is fun to go on a Saturday, circumvent the boutiques with your closests friends, but keep in mind that decisions will be made in the group and the opinion of the majority will greatly influence you i.e peer pressure. Your friends could easily convince you that the little tight dress number you have on looks perfect on you and would be shame not to buy it, even if you claim that you do not feel comfortable in it. “ Oh, it is made for you”, “It definitely makes you slimmer” and other such similar comments will prevail over your own mind and the fact that you know the dress is too small and a little tight, before you know it, you will find yourself in front of the till, with the money in your hand. The result of such shopping: another unwearied piece in your cupboard.
Buying in bigger company also increases the pressure for spending larger sum of money. If the group of friends agrees that the price for some pieces of clothing is appropriate, then you are far more likely to purchase that piece for yourself. And, when you return home and count the money in your purse , comes the question :” What was I thinking ?! “
Therefore, choose one friend or just take your sister or mother to share the shopping pleasure. It is really important that the person that is with you will be giving you not only compliments, but also critiquing you truthfully.
- Wear appropriate underwear when you go shopping.
Why? Because lingerie is very important for the way that the clothes you are trying on looks on you. If you are off looking for an evening dress, wear bra without suspenders. If you go shopping for around for jeans or trousers, you put that kind of panties on you wear every day. For example, it always happens that you try jeans on while you wearing a thong, and they look perfect on you, then when you wear them with ordinary panties, they do not look like the same jeans on you.
- If you like something, but the it is not made of quality material, buy it in black
You can not resist the beautiful silhouette of a dress or pants that you found, which fit perfectly on you, but unfortunately they are manufacture slightly bad and unprofessional. If the price suits you, buy a piece of clothing, but in black . Black hides the deficiencies in workmanship, in addition , easily can be in combinations with other clothes, so do not worry, your piece of clothing will not stay forgotten in the darn depth of your wardrobe.
- Wait for discounts and sales! Buy “out of the season”
Most brands offer regular discounts,. There is no point in buying a jacket for hundreds of pounds, when in the next discountsale in say two weeks it will be half price at the minimum. So, unless the jacket is among the last in the store, take your time.
When the weather gets cold and sign of snow start in the air, everyone sets out in search of boots, and of course, with the right boots at the right time for the shops prices will reach their peak. If you want to save, buy boots in February, when stores will want to get rid of winter goods as they are looking forward to the summer range.
- Do not buy something, just because it is on sale
Reductions and discount sales have just such a purpose- to make you buy more, whether you need it or not, and still stay with the impression that you made a bargain. You will remember at least two or three things that you bought just because they were reduced by 70% not because you wanted them to have, and now you do not know where you have put them .
Next time do not do the same mistake. Do not buy something on discount if your eyes do not notice something attractive about it.
- Answer yourself the question “ Is it worth so much money?” Whilst using proper maths.
Some pieces of clothing are worth emptying your wallets just that little more for. But, to know which are those pieces, you need to do a proper calculation.
Let’s say you want to assess whether you are to pay £/$/Euro 120 for a nice pair of jeans according to your measurements. Ask yourself the question “How often will I wear them? “. Jeans are one of the most practical pieces of clothing, so to say that response would be “~10 times a month”. That means 120 times throughout the year. When the price of jeans will be divided by the number of time you will be wearing them these Jeans would cost you £/$/Euro1 a wear. .
On the other hand, if you purchase £/$/Euro120 skirt and wear it only 6 times during the year, the price of £/$/Euro20 a wear.
With this simple equation, the jeans do not look so expensive, right?
- Before paying, check out the piece of clothing purchased for defects and deficiencies.
Even in expensive boutiques it happens that a piece of clothing has stitch dropped or a button has fallen off. Such failures often occur from careless customers. Many boutiques, on the other hand, deliberately left exposed defective garments in the hope that someone will not notice the shortcomings .
If a piece of clothing has a zipper, make sure you check it several times, check the zip moves up and down smoothly. See if all buttons are in place, whether the material is damaged and so on..
- Ask for a fiscal account and save it
It frequently happens, that clothes have defects and you notice that after you come home and check the purchased clothes. In such case the fiscal account is your saviour. Neatly pack the purchased clothing, take the fiscal account and return to the store for a replacement.
- If you are low on money, buy monotone ( one colour) clothes, without decorations.
One colour clothes are much easier to combine with more pieces that you already own. Simple clothing without decoration can be as chameleon and transforms. Let’s say that it is plain black cotton shirt with long sleeves. You can change the look, by wearing a brooch or scarf, to wear it under a jacket, or to wear over a shirt which is only peaking a collar . Whenever you are limited with cash, buy multifunctional timeless clothes and make modern look with fashion accessories.
- Buy pieces of clothing that you can combine with at least three other things you own.
Never say “ I will find/ buy something that will combine this”. Shopping experts recommend you follow the rule of buying clothing that you can combine them with things you already own, and also to create three beautiful combinations.
If you are shopping in the hope that you will “find” something about combining, you are risking never putting on the purchased piece of clothing as it won’t go with anything.
